Working as a facility employee
I am Elvira Keijser, 37 years old and live in Lelystad.
Originally I came to work as a supervisor for the swimming pool in December. After a few days, the cabinet then unfortunately decided that the pool and saunas had to close. At that time Flevo Natuur wanted to start a new facilities team. So March 1, I started as a full-time Facilities Officer. Every day is different and often full of surprises! But a little improvisation makes it nice and dynamic.
I take you with a day in my life. (May 6, 2021)
Today I start at 9 a.m., with coffee. Who else wants coffee? I pour a cup of coffee for my colleagues and start up the computer in the back office of the front desk. I check my mail and make the schedule for two weeks from now.
In between, a report comes in about a soap dispenser in a restroom building that needs refilling. I jump on the golf cart and drive to The Rups. Long live the golf cart!

Just to refill the soap dispenser in toilet building The Rups. While I'm there, I check the supply and note what still needs to be replenished. A lady tells me that she is happy that it is so nice and clean. Of course, that's nice to hear! With a smile, I hop back on my golf cart towards the pool.
Yep, 1 p.m., we're on break! In the golf cart we go back to the reception where we enjoy a sandwich and a cup of coffee. On my phone, I check through Keyplan to see what's on the schedule for tomorrow. Mondays and Fridays are the changeover of the rental accommodations' guests. Then we are extra busy and I want to make sure the planning goes well.
Around 4 p.m., the dryer is ready. The laundry is nice and clean and fresh again, ready to be folded! We have outsourced most of the laundry to Wasserij Elburg and a small part we do ourselves.
Yes, it's 5 p.m., so for today that's the end of my workday. I neatly hang the golf cart key back on the giant keychain.
