March brings a fresh spring breeze to Flevo Natuur. Nature is slowly coming to life, the days are getting longer, and the outdoors is calling again. In the early morning, you can hear blackbirds, robins, and titmice singing their first spring songs while the park is still quiet. The first soft rays of sunlight filtering through the trees and the tranquility of the early season make for a relaxing start to a new camping season.
In this newsletter, we look ahead to everything there is to experience this spring. We share updates from the park, practical information for the new season, and inspiration to fully enjoy the great outdoors. Together, we are getting ready for a relaxed and natural spring.
In this newsletter, you'll read about, among other things:

Could you briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Theunis Ykema, I’m 37 years old, and I’m from the beautiful region of Gaasterland. In my free time, I enjoy road cycling, (long-distance) hiking, or just pottering around the house.
What motivated you to start your own supermarket?
After a long rehabilitation process during my teenage years, I developed the mindset to take control of my life as much as possible and to be as independent as I could. By chance, I ended up in the supermarket industry and never looked back.
Do you already have experience in the supermarket or retail industry?
I’ve been working in the industry since I was 20 and started a dual-track Retail Management program. At 24, I had the opportunity to take over a small supermarket at a vacation park in Hindeloopen. After a few years, I moved to Brabant, where I stopped working after last season.
Why did you choose this particular location?
A few years ago, I moved back to Gaasterland, where I was able to take over my grandfather’s house. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to do something closer to home. After I mentioned that I was leaving Brabant and would see what opportunities came my way, I was quickly pointed toward the location at Flevonatuur. The park has a friendly, laid-back atmosphere, which suits me very well. After a few pleasant conversations, I decided to take on the challenge.
Which products will receive special attention (e.g., local, organic, budget-friendly, specialty items)?
We aim to present as diverse a selection as possible, with an emphasis on the enjoyment and convenience of the moment. So, we won’t be offering 20 different types of shampoo, but we will have a nice selection of wine, beer, and cheese, for example. We’re also reaching out to a number of local products and suppliers for interesting items. Tips are always welcome, of course!
Because space is limited in a campsite shop, we obviously cannot offer everything we would like to, but we are happy to help where we can! For example, many items can be ordered individually from our fresh produce supplier! This means we can be of great assistance to guests with specific requirements.
Will you be doing anything with a flyer or special offers? Like daily or weekend deals?
That’s definitely the plan. As of now, we’re still busy getting the store ready for the season. Once the time comes, all guests will definitely hear about it or see it in the store!
Will guests be able to buy fresh rolls soon?
Absolutely! We’re aiming to offer a nice variety of options. Rolls, baguettes, sweet treats, and savory snacks will all be available!
What do you hope customers feel when they walk into your supermarket?
That everyone feels welcome the moment they enter the store. A supermarket at a campground is like a village store; there should also be room for social interaction and a friendly chat.
What products do you think are absolute must-haves?
A camping store should have a little bit of everything—from camping gear to snacks. We strive to offer as complete a selection as possible!
How important are store layout and ambiance to you?
Just like mentioned above, we want everyone to feel welcome, so store layout is a key focus here. We strive to make it as easy as possible for everyone to find everything through a logical layout.
If you could make one wish for this supermarket, what would it be?
That we create a welcoming place where everyone feels at home. Whether someone comes in for a big grocery haul, a single item, a cup of coffee, or just to chat—it doesn’t matter.
The supermarket opens on March 27. Stop by and say hello!

You may have noticed that our old Facebook page has disappeared. The reason? Photos that were too revealing according to Facebook's guidelines. Although naturism is a very natural and respectful way of life for us, unfortunately it often remains a taboo online.
That is why we have created a new Facebook page for Flevo Natuur. To prevent this page from being suspended again, we will have to present ourselves online in a slightly different way than you are used to from us. Think of images with a bathrobe, towel, or a slightly more covered setting. Not completely naturist, but a way to keep our page online and continue to inspire you.
We hope you understand and, of course, that you will continue to follow us on our new page. This way, you can stay up to date on news, events, and everything that makes Flevo Nature so special.
Thank you for your commitment, and we hope to see you online again soon (or, of course, at our park).

Haven't been to the campsite during winter for a while? When you arrive, let the water run for a while. This will flush any stagnant water out of the pipes and allow you to use fresh water again.
Do you enjoy saunas, infusions, and wellness? Then you can't miss this weekend! For the fourth time, NFN Open & Bloot and Flevo Natuur holiday park are organizing the BlootGewoon! SaunaFest. Ticket sales have already started, so be quick because once they're gone, they're gone!
For our guests, the wellness experience begins on Friday evening, May 8, at 7:00 PM and lasts until Sunday, May 10, at 5:00 PM. Enjoy special themed infusions and unique sauna experiences in a relaxed and cozy atmosphere.
On Saturday, May 9 (10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.), we will open our doors for an extensive program that is only accessible to anyone with a ticket for this event (this applies to regular guests, overnight guests, and day guests).

Good news: you no longer need to purchase a Wi-Fi account. The Wi-Fi network on the camping fields has been improved and made faster. Campers can now use it free of charge.
The Reshare clothing collection bins have been removed by the issuing organization. They have concluded that the quality of the collected clothing is steadily deteriorating, making reuse more difficult.
In addition, household waste was regularly found in the container. Based on these findings, the organization decided to permanently remove the clothing collection bins.
On March 12, we once again celebrated our annual staff outing, together with colleagues from all our parks. This time, we were in Uddel, where an exciting program awaited us. There, we took part in a Prison Game: divided into teams, we set out to explore a large warehouse filled with mysterious cells. Each room featured a different challenge, ranging from clever puzzles to physical tasks. Teamwork, tactical thinking, and sometimes just a little bit of guts made the difference between winning and getting stuck.
After this intense—and above all, fun—challenge, it was time for archery. Arrows flew toward the targets, sometimes hitting the mark, sometimes missing, but always with lots of enthusiasm and laughter, as shown in the photo here.
The evening then came to a pleasant close with a barbecue, where everyone could relax and chat about the day’s adventures, spirited teams, and funny moments while enjoying a delicious meal. It was another successful staff outing!

Until October 31, rules apply to activities that may cause noise pollution, such as sanding, carpentry, or pruning.
The following activities are not permitted:
During these periods, rest and relaxation are key, so that everyone can enjoy their stay at Flevo Natuur to the fullest.
For 2026, these are the following periods:
Easter holidays, Ascension Day period from Thursday, May 14 to Sunday, May 17, Pentecost period from Saturday, May 23 to Monday, May 25, summer holidays from Saturday, July 4 to Sunday, August 30.
Do you need to carry out maintenance? If so, plan this outside of these periods and be considerate of your neighbors at other times too. Together, we can ensure a relaxed atmosphere in the park.
To keep the park pleasant and clean for everyone, we ask you to observe a few simple guidelines:
• Do not feed animals. Food for birds, hedgehogs, or rabbits also attracts rats.
• Store food in tightly sealed containers made of hard plastic, glass, or metal.
• Clean up dog food immediately after feeding and do not leave it outside overnight.
• Take waste to the appropriate containers as soon as possible.
• Do not leave open water bowls standing around and dispose of water in places with a water drain.
Together, we can ensure a pleasant and clean park.

Hello everyone,
Here's a little glimpse into our lives.
We are Eldon and Marjon from Zwolle.
We enjoy living and working there very much.
Like many others, our Flevo adventure began with a touring caravan, starting with a week, then part of the summer, and then booking for the entire season. That's how it seems to work. When our youngest left home and our cat sitter was no longer available, we started looking for a permanent place. That way, the ladies could bring their cats along and we wouldn't have to miss them during vacations.
Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our cat Angel. We hope to be able to come with Pucky for a long time to come.
We have been very happy with our place on Sperwer for a number of years now. Eldon built almost everything himself, and I am extremely proud of that. It is exactly how we want it, and we can now relax and enjoy ourselves there.
We also have our obligations in life. After a wonderful but intense period working as a maternity nurse, I now work from home in Zwolle as a childminder. Every day, I look after five children aged between 0 and 4, which I really enjoy. However, it's nice to go camping for some rest, leisure time, and privacy. Eldon also works in Zwolle and has enjoyed going to the Appie DC for almost 30 years. After 25 years of shift work, including night shifts, those nights are fortunately a thing of the past.
We don't have enough time because we enjoy so many things the campsite has to offer. We think the parties in the center are great fun. A lot of attention is paid to fun themes. Even when there's no party planned, it's always nice to have a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. But the swimming pool and saunas are also favorites. We really enjoy them.
Cooking is one of our hobbies, and we are especially in our element when we can cook outside on the barbecue. It's even better when we can share this with friends. What we particularly enjoy are the spontaneous, crazy things that sometimes happen. An ordinary evening can suddenly end with a garden full of fun.
We are very comfortable with naturism; we really enjoy feeling the wind and weather on our skin and feel wonderfully free when naked.
I wish everyone felt this way, because I've noticed that not everyone deals with nudity in the same way. Personally, this has bothered me at times, because it takes away a bit of equality. I've since come to see this as something that mainly affected me personally.
Nevertheless, I do hope that naturism will remain the campsite's guiding principle, as that is the main reason we chose this location. We hope to celebrate many more parties here and enjoy all the beauty that Flevonatuur has to offer for a long time to come.
Much love, Eldon and Marjon
Hugs from Puck!
We are delighted to pass the pen on to Tineke and Denis.
